FAQ

We’ve compiled answers to some of our most frequently asked questions for your convenience. Don’t see the answer you’re looking for? Get in touch.

Although you may not suspect anything is wrong with your system you should still have regular servicing and maintenance performed once a year. Units located in commercial spaces, such as offices, should be serviced more often, at least twice a year, to keep them running in optimal condition.

We recommend cleaning the filter on the indoor unit every 2 to 4 weeks when in regular use. In dustier conditions or more polluted areas you should try to clean the filter more often. Regular cleaning will ensure your system is kept in good condition.

There are a few ways you can clean your filter. Firstly, begin by removing the filter from the system. Once removed, you can vacuum the filter or wash it with warm water, household detergent can be used if required. If the filter has a particularly bad odour you can run baking soda water over it. Be careful not to damage the filter while cleaning. Do not place the filter in the dishwasher. Ensure you leave the filter to dry completely before returning to the system.

There are a number of reasons why your air conditioner may be leaking.

The most common is that the condensate drain line is clogged with dust, dirt or sludge and is backing up the water causing a leak.
Other reasons you may have a leak include:

  • The drain pan is damaged
  • Broken condensate pump
  • Dirty air filter
  • Low refrigerant

The most common reason your air conditioner would be blowing hot air is that the compressor or outside unit is not functioning correctly. Your air conditioner may also be low on refrigerant or a return duct may be broken. Always call a professional to diagnose the problem.

Split systems boast a range of benefits including:

  • Cost effective
  • Low noise levels
  • Easy installation
  • Less energy usage
  • Less temperature fluctuation
  • Ability to add air conditioners

We recommend calling us to discuss your split system installation. In saying that, if you are planning an installation keep the below guidelines in mind.

Indoor units
The indoor unit should be installed in a central location within the room. They will also need to be placed high up on the wall to ensure cool air is distributed throughout the room. The indoor unit should not be installed above electrical fittings as this can be a safety hazard if leakage occurs.

Outdoor units
The outdoor unit of a split system is usually installed against the exterior wall of the room being air conditioned. If you do not want the system placed here we can find a suitable location. This location will need to be stable and should not be exposed to corrosive elements.
